We are sad to see you leave, but that is life! Please keep in touch, and let us know how to contact you after your NTNU account is expired.
Even if you have finished your studies/work with us, we should keep in touch. Before leaving NTNU, please let us know how we can reach you. Please give your new email address to Babak. It is important for us to be able to contact you after your NTNU account expires. We will not spam you! Here are some examples of tasks that require continued communication:
- Most importantly, we might want to publish the results of your thesis/work: Hopefully you have created valuable results that need to be disseminated to a wider audience than a few of us and a few examiners. You will often be a co-author if a paper gets published. In most cases, one of us will take care of writing a paper, but we need to have a dialog with you.
- You might also want to write a short version of your results as a feature (kronikk) or an article in for instance Forskning.no, or for our group’s blog. We also offer you to present your results in a webinar as part of our research-based digitalization seminar. Talk to Babak if interested.
- We will be happy to cooperate with you on student supervision: In your new job, you might want to do research on current topics and challenges you face. We might remind you once a year to propose topics for our new master students. You can supervise these students together with us if you wish.
- We might have a paid job for you: Sometimes we need external examiners, paid by NTNU to grade exams or master theses. We will check with all our alumni when such tasks are available. You will be eligible after one year of leaving NTNU.
Here are some additional action items for you before leaving:
- Did you send the latest version of your thesis to Babak? Unfortunately we don’t automatically get a latest version from the IT system so we need you to forward the uploaded version to us.
- Did you let us know whether you have anonymized and/or deleted all the sensitive data you collected during your project? As Babak normally is the contact person for SIKT I need to have your confirmation before you leave. Send me your confirmation using your new email address!
- Did you share your anonymized data with Babak? In most cases, your work is part of ongoing projects in our groups. It is therefore important that anonymized informant lists, transcriptions, field notes and similar are shared with Babak before you leave. If in doubt, ask.
- Did you remember to deliver any books or other resources such as voice recording devices etc. that you might have borrowed?
