ad%20to%20an%20introduction%20of%20two%20concepts%3A%20front%20stage%20and%20back%20stage.%20Participation%20in%20front%20stage%20regards%20design%2C%20and%20participation%20in%20back%20stage%20is%20the%20organizational%2C%20political%2C%20and%20messy%20negotiations%20needed%20for%20a%20project%20to%20move%20forward.%20Participation%20in%20back%20stage%20activities%20is%20limited%20to%20stakeholders%20and%20managers%2C%20therefore%20threatening%20the%20users%27%20right%20to%20participate%20in%20the%20system%20being%20developed.%20Large-scale%20PD%20projects%20expose%20a%20need%20for%20defined%20and%20understandable%20back%20stage%20activities%20to%20make%20the%20system%27s%20users%20participants.%20Another%20issue%20is%20the%20thousands%20of%20users%20going%20to%20participate.%20This%20issue%20has%20been%20tried%20solved%20by%20introducing%20communities%20with%20representatives%20taking%20the%20role%20as%20users.%20However%2C%20there%20is%20need%20for%20research%20on%20the%20management%20of%20the%20communities%20and%20how%20it%20works%20in%20large-scale%20PD%20projects.%5Cn%5CnA%20case%20study%20was%20conducted%2C%20looking%20into%20the%20Helseplattformen%20project%20as%20a%20large-scale%20project%20with%20strong%20similarities%20to%20PD%20projects.%20Through%20interviews%2C%20observations%2C%20and%20documents%2C%20it%20was%20gathered%20data%20on%20planned%20and%20conducted%20activities%2C%20flow%20of%20information%2C%20and%20the%20organizational%20aspects%20of%20the%20project.%20The%20aim%20was%20to%20identify%20and%20understand%20what%20the%20back%20stage%20activities%20were%20and%20how%20they%20were%2C%20or%20could%20have%20been%2C%20used%20to%20benefit%20the%20project.%5Cn%5CnThe%20findings%20from%20the%20research%20show%20the%20back%20stage%20activities%20was%20identified%20as%20activities%20conducted%20because%20the%20main%20activity%20needed%20it.%20The%20back%20stage%20activities%20were%20characterized%20as%20belonging%20to%20a%20main%20activity%2C%20often%20done%20as%20a%20preparation%20or%20evaluation%20for%20the%20main%20activity%2C%20and%20aiming%20to%20maximize%20the%20profit%20of%20the%20project.%20The%20findings%20also%20showed%20little%20participation%20in%20the%20back%20stage%2C%20exposing%20the%20dynamic%20between%20participation%20and%20need%20for%20organizational%20work%2C%20and%20the%20size%20of%20the%20project.%20When%20the%20projects%27%20size%20reaches%20a%20certain%20point%2C%20the%20participation%20stagnates%20and%20the%20need%20for%20organizational%20work%20keeps%20increasing%20-%20his%20being%20one%20of%20the%20results%20of%20several%20stakeholders%20and%20e%20more%20complex%20project%20structure.%20By%20investigating%20the%20multiple%20stakeholders%20and%20how%20they%20communicated%20and%20cooperated%20when%20it%20came%20to%20including%20the%20users%20in%20different%20activities%2C%20it%20reveled%20that%20stakeholders%20where%20working%20in%20parallel%20universes%2C%20each%20managing%20the%20user%20communities%20as%20they%20need.%22%2C%22thesisType%22%3A%22Master%20thesis%22%2C%22university%22%3A%22Norwegian%20University%20of%20Science%20and%20Technology%22%2C%22date%22%3A%222020%22%2C%22language%22%3A%22en%22%2C%22url%22%3A%22https%3A%5C%2F%5C%2Fhdl.handle.net%5C%2F11250%5C%2F2777941%22%2C%22collections%22%3A%5B%22HYAV888R%22%5D%2C%22dateModified%22%3A%222024-02-12T12%3A18%3A08Z%22%7D%7D%5D%7D
